Christians in Culture
This powerful message confronts us with an urgent reality: America stands at a crossroads, and the church must awaken to its true calling. Drawing from Matthew 7's parable of two builders, we're reminded that storms are coming to every foundation, whether built on sand or rock. The question isn't whether we'll face trials, but whether our foundation in Christ will hold. We're challenged to examine seven churches in Revelation, where only two received no rebuke. Most had allowed mixture and compromise to dilute their witness. Like Laodicea's lukewarm state or Sardis's reputation of life while being spiritually dead, many churches today have lost their saltiness. But there's hope in Philadelphia's open door, a reminder that opportunity still exists for those willing to be faithful. The message calls us beyond comfortable Christianity to become true influencers in culture. We're not called merely to survive in society but to possess its gates, understanding that in biblical times, gates represented governing authority over commerce, law, and culture. As the ecclesia, we're not just a religious gathering but a legislative assembly with divine authority to bind and loose, to preserve truth like salt preserves food, and to illuminate darkness like light dispels shadows.
