Silence

What does it actually mean that there is neither male nor female in Christ? Galatians 3:28 declares that God makes no distinctions among his people, yet for centuries the church has wrestled with how to apply that truth honestly and consistently. This message takes us on a rigorous journey through the ancient cities of Corinth and Ephesus, pulling back the curtain on the cultural chaos that shaped two of the most debated passages in all of Scripture. When we understand that the Corinthian church was drowning in immorality, self-centeredness, and disorder, and that Ephesian society was dominated by the cult of Diana with its deeply embedded matrilineal power structures, the commands for women to be silent begin to look far less like universal doctrine and far more like situational correction. We are challenged to ask ourselves whether we have been reading the Bible through the lens of tradition rather than truth, and whether we have allowed two isolated verses to override the overwhelming testimony of the whole counsel of God.
